Bonaire is well known as THE first class destination for
shore diving worldwide. The dive sites are not only the just a short drive away from wherever you are on the island they also are really close to each other, with more than 85 dive sites to choose from it can be difficult to make a choice. Maybe your choice depends on how easy it is to enter the water. Because it can be tricky on windy days. We made a list of some dive sites with easy entries, pick one, grab a tank and go diving
This dive site is located at the bottom of a cliff overlooking the ocean and also novice divers will find Bachelor's Beach an easy entry. Just a few steps down and an inviting white sandy beach is waiting for you to easily enter the water. Located just past the airport, the 15-100 foot site has lots of soft coral in the shallows and offers shelter to plenty of reef critters and fish.
Once you gear up and descend the small slope to the water, there will be rocks indicating the best entry point. The beach is mainly sand with some rocks here and there, this makes this dive site such an easy entry. Once you put your fins on it is a 500 ft (150m) swim out to the buoy. The reef is a double reef structure, but the second reef is not always easy to spot, depending on visibility.
Is another dive site in the south of the island. Easy to spot with all its palm trees. If you find the first 2 palm trees standing in proximity this is the right spot to park. Gear up, make your way over the little dune and you will already see the small sand channel that makes access to the water so easy. The swim out is relatively short and the shallows impress with the big patch of staghorn corals outplanted by Reef Renewal.
If you don't want to drive all the way to the south, Calabas might be a good option for you. Right across the street from the restaurant Sebastian's you can park your pick-up and set up your gear, walk down the little street next to the restaurant, there you will find a boat slip, this entry could not be any easier.
From downtown Kralendijk head North. Across from Goodive, next to Between to Buns there is the dive site Something Special. Once you found a parking spot and geared up, make your way down to the little rocky beach.
Like the name suggests, this dive site might have Something Special in store for you, you never know. It could be awesome rare finds like frogfish or seahorses or a turtle or a ray might cruise by.
